What Do I Have to Do to Prepare the Site?

We highly recommend ¾” crushed stone as a base for your shed. The crushed stone area should be 2 feet larger than the perimeter of your shed and 4-6 inches deep.  We build the shed in the middle, so you have a 1ft perimeter of stone around the shed for drainage.  We do provide cinder blocks and bricks to level and support the shed during installation.

Need Site Prep? We do that too! Click here for details…

Some homeowners choose to use a concrete slab as the floor of their shed.  The slab should be completely level and measured for square.  Sheds for sale will email you the dimensions required based on the size of your shed.  After the shed is installed, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to secure the bottom plate of the wall to the slab using expansion bolts.

Do I Need a Permit?

Permitting is the homeowner’s responsibility.  Some towns require permits, while others do not.  We recommend you check with your city inspector (this info can usually be found on your town hall website) to be sure.  While New England Outdoor does not pull permits, we can help guide you with this process.

What If I Want An Insulated Workshop Or Studio?

More and more homeowners are using our sheds for more than just storage.  Contact us for a quote for insulated floors, doors, and windows to get the transformation from shed to a heated/cooled structure started!

Do You Offer Custom Designs?

Absolutely!

We love creating custom sheds.  Some customizations include door and window placement and size, aesthetic features like extended gables or shed dormers, or finishing touches like flower boxes, cupolas, and weathervanes.

What Size Shed Do I Need?

The size of the shed you need largely depends on two factors – the amount of space you have available and how much storage space you need.  We always recommend going a bit bigger than what you think you may need if space allows, because once you run out of space it’s hard to add more.  If you are limited on available space, interior features like lofts and shelves help maximize a smaller footprint.

Will I Have to Pay Sales Tax?

Yes, unless your shed is being installed in New Hampshire where there is no sales tax or if your organization is tax exempt.

Can I Get the Same Shed As Tom Brady?

Sure. Although be warned that he chose one of our larger models (probably to store his growing collection of Super Bowl rings).

Do I Need a Shed or a Garage?

Both sheds and garages are outdoor storage buildings that are constructed to store items. A garage is larger and able to hold one vehicle or more. Garages have more headroom than sheds and often have a loft or an entire second floor for more storage and living space. Garages will usually have traditional sectional garage doors for easier access to vehicles and other larger equipment.

Sheds are buildings that are used to store items such as lawnmowers, gardening equipment and seasonal items.  Some sheds are big enough to store a vehicle or even double as a home office.  Storage sheds can be designed with decorative features like flower boxes, dormers, and cupolas.

Variables to Consider

A Sheds for sale shed or garage is an investment and adds value to your home or property.  When deciding between a shed or garage, there are a few questions to think about to help you determine which type of structure would work best for your situation:

  • Size of available space
  • The number and size of items to be stored
  • The time frame in which you need the structure
  • Any permitting restrictions within your city or town
  • Budget

Shed Installation

How Does Installation Work?

All our sheds are prefabricated, kitted, and installed onsite.  On average, installation takes a couple of hours*.

*The garage doors on the Delmar and Grand Delmar models are installed after the structure is built, usually within 24-48 hours.

Where Should I Put My New Shed?

Your site should be firm, fairly level (6″ difference or less from corner to corner), and free from overhanging branches or bushes.  Installation also requires 2 ½’ clearance at the front and rear, and 2’ on each gable ends.  If your site does not meet these requirements, please contact us!

What Kind of Access Is Needed for Delivery & Installation?

We only require a 3’ opening to access your area.  Our crew unloads and assembles each section manually, eliminating the need to drive vehicles or machinery over your yard.  If your site is over 100 feet away from the unloading point, a small carry fee will apply.

What Do I Need for a Base?

We highly recommend ¾” crushed stone as a base for your shed. The crushed stone area should be 2 feet larger than the perimeter of your shed and 4-6 inches deep.  We build the shed in the middle, so you have a 1ft perimeter of stone around the shed for drainage.  We do provide cinder blocks and bricks to level and support the shed during installation.

How Long Does The Installation Take?

On average, two to three hours.

What If I Need To Move The Shed Later?

We offer a relocation service! See our Services page for more details.
